It’s a natural attraction – kids are drawn to water like fish. If there’s a puddle, chances are children will find it and splash in it. Warm, water-proof boots allow youngsters to enjoy playing outdoors during the fall and winter. The benefits of playing outdoors are innumerable. Fresh air and exercise are just the beginning. • Playing outside helps to develop learning and social skills, improves executive function, and develops problem-solving skills. • Outdoor play develops muscle strength, coordination, and self-confidence. • It increases flexibility, and motor skills – both fine and motor. • Outdoor play helps reduce stress of daily life. Being outside improves absorption of vitamin D which offers several health benefits, such as building strong bones, helping to prevent diabetes and heart disease. Too often today, children come to school ill-equipped to get the most out of outside play. Providing boots to those who need them puts kids on equal footing with their peers and gives them a chance to fully enjoy fall and winter.
