Theatre is the single most valuable place where kids can explore the endless possibilities of their imaginations and what they can do. Navigating through a theatre world is daydreaming in motion. It can be a wondrous and nurturing place to grow. There are many benefits in being involved. The students will enhance their creativity, teaches morals, builds self-esteem, builds focus, improves memory and teaches them to work together in a cooperative manner. These skills will help make them more confident, productive individuals in life. This play is an open concept, adapted to require the fewest props, costumes and set pieces as possible. The items requested will serve as the props and costumes for the production. We want the students to convey their personality through acting rather than costume. For example, the cloth will be used to indicate wind. The cast members will billow it around to give a storm effect. Each Dorothy will wear a wig and ruby slippers. With the open concept we will be able to perform on a budget and only require few costume and prop pieces.
