Storyworks magazine offers a variety of genres to address a variety of interest levels. This includes poetry, informational and narrative nonfiction, short fiction, debates, and drama. This activity also provides digital access where students can view e-magazines, skill work, and assessments. Scholastic Storyworks provides a variety of rigorous activities while differentiating for all students. Differentiation includes leveled readers (the same passage but at different reading levels for all students) and closed captioning for videos as well as audio. Storyworks provides different types of writing prompts and connect to both science and social studies for cross-curricular teaching. Storyworks also comes with over 100 unique activities that meet the Common Core State Standards. My students will benefit from this project by increasing their exposure to a variety of genres and text as well as helping them to understand the Common Core State Standards. This will help prepare each student for the EOGs as well as extending their vocabulary and background knowledge.
