Most of my students are English Language Learners. About 5% of my students read at grade level. Our goal, together as a class is to be reading at grade level or above by the end of this school year. For this purpose, I am using Guided Reading and personalized centers to achieve that goal. The requested materials are going to help me create a personalized learning space. A space that also promotes flexibility and choice of learning and to help my students own their learning. Most of my instruction is either center or workshop based. The different seating options will provide my students with a space that they can feel safe and comfortable while they rotate through centers which is crucial for personalized learning as students work toward being independent. This choice and flexibility of where they want to learn not only helps to relieve anxiety but also minimizes the distractions as students move from one center to the next.
