Students in this class have difficulty regulating themselves in a typical classroom setting. Flexible seating will provide choice and opportunity to self-regulate and be prepared to learn in their other classes. The inclusion of the bike desk, Fuf bean bag chair, and ball chair will meet the needs of some of our more active students. We feel this arrangement will increase the level of engagement and decrease behaviors due to sensory overload. Students will gain social and emotional, self-regulation, communication, collaboration, and self-advocacy skills. The mindfulness resources/ curriculum and sensory fidgets/tools will help provide students with the strategies and tools to be more successful. These resources will provide life-long strategies to regulate themselves when they are having issues with sensory processing as well as provide them with instruction to meet their social and emotional needs.
