Being at a title one school, the students don't always come prepared to learn. These students are unable to buy the supplies needed for first grade. It would be so nice to begin our new school year with most of the supplies ready to be given to each child. Life can be so stressful for these little ones and they deserve the opportunity to feel prepared for school. Here is how my students will use each item on my list: Crayons, scissors, and glue: First graders will use these supplies daily to enhance their learning of colors, fine motor skills, and creativity. Headphones: Allows the students to participate in educational programs on the computer without being disrupted by other classmates or teaching taking place. Journals: These are made specifically for this age group so they can participate in daily writing activities. Pencil pouch: The students will use these to store pencils and learn organization and responsibility skills. page protectors and velcro dots: These supplies are used to create engaging centers for my students to participate in daily.
