Each student is working on pre-academic skills. Skills necessary when pushing into their general education classrooms with their peers. With the variety of skills and ages, having 'centers' (i.e. a fine motor center) will allow the students to use the same manipulative in a variety of ways meeting their individual needs. Each item selected is multi-purposed, the squeeze scoop, bug sorting, feed the monkey items, will allow students to work on counting as well as using their fine motor skills providing a variety of opportunities for student to tone and build strength in the fingers/hands. Differentiating in Special Education is the corner stone to a successful classroom and provides young students to opportunity to grow.
