Students at my school are not allowed to check out books from our library, so they must either bring a book from home or check one out from the public library in order to participate in Independent Reading. For most kids, this is something that doesn't happen. I need to fill my room with fun, exciting, high-interest books that get kids motivated to read! These books will grab their attention, and perhaps inspire them to start making trips to the public library! Additionally, I have a few students in my class who are still learning English; the Spanish language books will afford them the opportunity to read independently. I'm also including reading remediation books in this donation request, as I have students who need to have 1-on-1 instruction to help them read at grade level.
