Children are natural engineers and have an inherent sense of creativity. What better way to foster students' natural curiosities and integrate critical 21st century skills than through the exploration of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) tubs? Doing so will allow my students to come to class every day enthusiastic and ready to learn as they will have access Magna-Tiles, Design and Build Engineering Centers, Gadgets and Gizmos, and Blocks and Blueprint STEM activities that activate their brains first thing in the morning better preparing them for a full day of learning!
Upon entering the classroom, students will immediately be engaged in hands-on, student-centered learning activities that allow them to communicate and collaborate with their peers while they build deeper critical thinking skills as they work to engineer and design ideas of their choosing.
Not only will the STEM activities be used to actively engage students in the morning, but they will also serve a purpose in free choice centers, activities for early finishers, and as a makerspace where students have the freedom to and are encourage to "think outside the box"!
