These manipulatives will help my students fully grasp math concepts. They will allow my students to spend more time exploring math in small groups, giving them the practice they need to be successful in first grade. It will also allow them to learn the social skills that come with sharing and working together. Math skills allow all students to succeed in all areas of life. These specific items will be used in small groups and during centers. They are chosen to align with and support the Eureka math curriculum. We will be using the ten-frames to pracice quickly seeing numbers within and up to ten. Students will practice counting on and telling how much more is needed to get to 10. The number bond manipulatives will be used to help support my students who can not grasp this concept. They need something to physically hold and maneuver to see that the two small numbers go together to make the bigger number. This will better help them to see the relationship between the 3 numbers shown. They are excited about learning to use and make number bonds, count with ten frames, and so much more. Being able to see and touch the math will make it more concrete and more exciting.
