The requested iPads would give my students access to engaging apps, e-books, and games to supplement their daily math and reading instruction during classroom center times. Students will think that they are playing, but by having iPads outfitted with high quality apps designed to meet their specific learning styles, use of technology in our room will be so much more than just fun! My students have significant disabilities, and as such, typical school curriculum is often not engaging or effective for them. Our classroom already offers modified curriculum designed especially for our students, and adding in the ability to flexibly use technology for additional practice will make our classroom program stronger. iPad apps have come a long way in recent years, and there are now a stunning amount designed to creatively meet the needs of students with disabilities! Having access to these apps will make the school experience of my students richer, and more enjoyable. Although my students show great skill in navigating the limited technology our classroom has available, we don't yet have what we need to integrate technology into their learning in a way that is meaningful and serves them well as students with disabilities. This project will go a long way towards fixing that!
