I believe that learning is only possible when all members of the classroom, students and teachers, can bring their whole selves into the room and feel safe and respected by one another. As an educator, I strive to not only hold my students to high academic standards, but I firmly believe that the social-emotional learning is as if not more important for my young scholars. In my classroom, I desire to see community lived out and embraced by all of my scholars. As students from diverse backgrounds come together and embrace each other's unique stories and cultures, we become a stronger and more empathetic community that can work together to achieve tremendous social, emotional, and academic growth.
