As a special education teacher working with students who have disabilities, I see my students come across many challenges throughout the day. One of the most prevalent challenges I see is the struggle to focus, attend to the task, and refrain from impulsivity. These difficulties interfere with their everyday learning. The wobble seats, seat cushions, as well as fidget tools I am requesting through this project will help my students to expend their energy discretely while still focusing their attention on me and the lesson or activity at hand. By donating to this project, you will in turn help my students become better equipped to self-regulate their emotions and behaviors. Self-regulation (self-control, self-management, impulse control, etc.) is an important skill I guide my students towards developing. We focus on what's called The Zone's of Regulation. Not only do I encourage students to recognize the "zone" they are in, but I also teach them how to use strategies to change or stay in the zone they are in. I want to expand the options and tools I can offer to my students!
