As a GATE class, scholars are asked to dig deeper into complex texts. The Chromebooks will be used during small group time for that specific reason. During that time, scholars will have opportunities to hone their investigation skills by utilizing the Chromebooks to research information for writing informative/explanatory paragraphs. They will also research information to assist with Science and Social Studies projects. I would love for them to type assignments and get accustomed to this form of documentation. In middle, high school, and college, most papers are done on Google Docs. It would be amazing for our younger scholars to have a chance to start practicing using that tool. Helping to provide scholars who may not have access to technology at home an opportunity, will help foster the skills necessary to truly become 21st century learners. With the addition of these Chromebooks, together we are making a difference in their lives and ultimately an investment into the future of our society.
