As a new second grade teacher it has been difficult to fill my classroom library. In the past I have taught third and fourth grade. I do have some books in our classroom library that are just right for some of my advanced readers, but I do not have enough books for the rest of our class. It is a goal of mine to help my students be able to pick books just right for them. This skill will follow them in years to come when deciding which books they can and should read. This has been difficult to accomplish as I have many low readers and ESL students in my class who I cannot provide just right books to on my own. It is important for students to develop a love for reading, so the love will only grow as they get older. It is my hope that providing all of my students with a wide variety of books that I will be able to help them grow as readers and children who will in turn become our future and educated members of society.
