These items would help my non-English children listen and be able to retell the stories. By listening to the story on their own they may have a better understanding. Having a CD to listen to and the chart they may even find a different ending or could change the story. "What would happen if.." If they could hear the story they may be able to retell using pictures. They would use this at centers and have choices of stories they want to hear. They children would be able to hear their favorite story over and over. The children would enjoy listening and gradually move on to reading on their own.
