My students and I are looking to give an iPad a loving home in our first-grade classroom. We are so excited about the endless ways an iPad would allow us to learn how to read, write, solve math problems, and inquire about the world around us. There are so many amazing apps that actively engage students while they are learning new content. This iPad would be a wonderful addition to our already well-loved iPad. An iPad engages all learners as it provides kinesthetic, auditory, visual, and written interaction. Not only does it meet the needs of all learning styles but it opens up the world to my students by allowing us to inquire about different places in the world and actually interact with those places. By having two classroom iPads we would be able to have one center during our reading, phonemic awareness, math, and writing centers devoted to using technology. This would allow all children to interact with an iPad throughout the day helping them to continue developing their 21st technology skills. My students are expected to meet learning objectives that are solely based on technology. I believe my students should not be deprived of fully meeting this standard due to lack of funding. My dream is to provide my students with access to a variety of different types of technology not only preparing them for their academic future but the future jobs they will go into.
