The two novels I am hoping for Little Women and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and the DVDs to accompany them, will make a huge difference in my students' learning. Each of these novels are on the KPREP suggested list; therefore, I will be able to teach content that is needed to succeed on the KPREP assessment while my students can get lost in a book and enjoy a new experience. These novels will improve my students' school lives because we live in a poverty-stricken area; for numerous students, school is the only place for fun and excitement, which I am hoping to accomplish with these novels. Reading a novel as a class is such a wonderful experience; with the combination of class reading, discussion, activities, literary element focus, and comparing and contrasting the novel to the DVD, a novel can be such a fun and exciting experience that ties everyone together in one journey. I love the idea of my classes becoming one and having adventures through novels.
