I teach physical science to 8th and 10th grade students, who constantly keep me on my toes by asking insightful, powerful questions of the topics we cover. My classroom is a classic science classroom - every detail from the nerdy teacher to the old lab benches makes me love teaching students from this room, and to give them every opportunity I can imagine. We are learners in Milwaukee, WI and a large majority of my students come from low income and immigrant backgrounds. 95% of our students receive free and reduced lunch, and 99% of them are of Hmong descent. Each day I interact with them, they teach me lessons about resilience and culture, and remind me that I want to give them every imaginable opportunity.
