My students come from homes where they may not have a nice place to sit or lay on the floor. They also may not have an area they can call their own. Knowing this, I try to make sure my student know they have a place that is theirs. A lot of the lessons and activities we do in my class our on the floor; morning meetings, calendar time, high frequency words knowledge, and alphabet. Since we are at the carpet so much I would love to have this colorful area where we can sit, and they will have their own square they know they will sit without being to crowded by others.
