This year the students are going to be taking a BRAND NEW type of Leap Test (LEAP 2025) at the end of the year. They HAVE to pass this test to pass the course. No exceptions! Here is where it gets tricky. The test is going to require several sessions where the student will have to write a constructed response for their answer. In the past, 90% of the test was only multiple choice. Normally, I give a paper/pen test that looks similar to the end of year test. However, this year, with all of the additional writing, the students do not have class time to finish the masses amounts of writing necessary to prepare for this test. Typing an essay will make it much more effecient and direclty prepare them for this rigorous test at the end of the year. The other factor that is pressing on their progress is that this year the entire test is timed! Students must be able to write clear thoughts in less than 10 minutes for certain sessions. Having access to computers IN THE CLASSROOM will allow them to constantly practice this much needed skill.
