I am a teacher in North Orange County in a very low income area. Nearly 85% of our students receive free or reduced breakfast/lunch. English is a second language for 74% of the students in our district. The scholars that I have the great opportunity to work with face daily homelife changes. Our city has several rival gangs in the area, some of our students are classified as homeless, and some of my students are without mother/father figures in their lives. With all the challenges that my students face, they all deserve to walk into our classroom and feel safe, loved, and empowered. I have a highly motivated group of scholars this year and I am determined to give them all the resources and opportunities possible to help them be successful this year and in the future.
