Today's students crave technology. In many ways, technology can be the spark some students need to become excited about school and learning in general. This project is meant to reach out to those who do not normally have access to technology and give them opportunity to design and develop science lessons in an effort to not only better understand the major concepts presented, but to also share those concepts throughout our district and beyond. Students in Environmental Science and biology are going to use the GoPro camera to study real world examples of concepts they cover in class. The camera will make it possible for them to produce video above and below the water and in any weather. They will film ecosystem services provided by a wide range of species in real time at our School's environmental pond and on our field experiences they participate in throughout the year. They'll study biodiversity, inter and intraspecific species interactions and then use the information they collect to produce videos of their own with the camera system to share with other classes on campus, at other schools , and even around the world through the World Wide Web. Furthermore, this project will help students develop an interest in science, to develop self confidence, and to develop leadership skills that will help them for a lifetime. Your donations will make it possible to impact the lives of students for generations to come as we use videography to explore scientific concepts, simulate learning, and to share the wonders of science throughout our school district and beyond.
