I am teaching Language Arts to a student population that is 85% Hispanic and 90% free and reduced lunch. Many of my students are the first person in their family to speak English. All of my students have dreams of being the first in their family to attend college and work somewhere other than an orchard. Due to cuts in funding our classroom budgets have been taken away. Anything we need including pencils and paper must be purchased by the teacher. Donations are the only hope we have of getting anything to aid in student learning.
