My students have various special needs and I have to come up with a variety of ways to teach them the basics. They are very tactile so if I can get them to "write" or do math by not doing the traditional paper pencil way my students are successful. Instead of writing their names with pencil I have them paint their name or make a design using pom poms etc. In math we will create a story board showing the problem and the answer and they will use various things to count. My students will be able to use many of the items to show their comprehension of stories by making projects due to their inability to write. My students are very tactile and very sensitive to noise which prevents them from attending special classes with their peers. The supplies that I have requested will help my students have a variety of ways to enhance their learning by meeting the special needs that traditional teaching can not do. These supplies will enhance their learning abilities and allow them to show their creative side.
