Engagement, involvement, interest, and curiousity are integral ingredients to student growth and learning. As a second grade teacher in the 21st century, using technology in my classroom in new and engaging ways, is not only is novel to my young students but also serves to increase student engagement and learning. Integration of technology such as an iPad and an Apple pencil into everyday learning experiences models the use of technologies that will most certainly be used by my students in their future educational experiences and beyond. Above all of this is the benefit of increased learning across the curriculum. The availability of an updated Ipad and Apple pencil in my second grade classroom will allow us to interactively display visual models of learning; digital whiteboard, interactive writing, interactive visual models for math, display of local historical documents and maps in social studies, and shared note taking as students research relevant topics related to second grade common core learning standards. The possibilities of technology when children are given daily access is limitless. By installing this iPad on a mobile rolling cart, we will have the ability to roll the Ipad table to table, and all around our learning environment, thus encouraging students to interact and become more deeply involved in any given point of instruction.
