The materials requested for this project will help bring learning alive in the special education resource room. The projector will bring technology into the learning experience of the most at risk student population in school community and provide access to instructional resources that will help engage learners. Reading readiness skills and early literacy skills are they key to success as an elementary learner. The book sets that are requested to help reach the emergent readers that require specially designed instruction in the resource room setting. The books sets paired with a big book for teacher modeling will help students to build reading readiness skills to create a foundation for early literacy skills. In addition, the students who access the resource room environment struggle with social emotional development. These students struggle to navigate peer interactions and to regulate their emotions throughout the school day. The feelings rug will be used in a calming corner that students will utilize as a break space when they become overwhelmed. The books set will be utilized for direct instruction of social emotional skills.
