A classroom library should be reflective of the diverse learners and students in our first grade class - these books will empower my students by seeing themselves in the books we are reading and create opportunities to deepen our understanding of acceptance, inclusion, empathy, and more. These books will be used as read alouds to create engaging conversations as we strengthen and build our classroom community. In the classroom or learning remotely, these books will be an important part of our learning this year. These books will also continue to strengthen my teaching and instruction. Multicultural art supplies will continue to create opportunities for student engagement and to see themselves in their art around the classroom! The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will go towards lesson plans connected to some of the selected books - perspective through picture books!
