With an influx of non-English speaking students into classrooms, it has become extremely difficult for teachers to meet every child where they need to be because of language barriers. Although a good number of these children are receiving additional support, it still presents great difficulty for the classroom teacher who has to think quickly on their feet to engage and instruct every child in the classroom. Technology has made this much more possible than ever before. With the tablets, our students would be able to use apps such as Google Translate to help build comprehension. Not only can our students read and speak into the tablet, they can also take a live picture and the application will instantly translate it into their native language. This is truly a game-changer for all parties involved. Using the tablet, teachers can now voice-actively translate to students who speak more uncommon languages such as Turkish, Arabic, or Russian. Not only will a written text be presented, but a voice-over with dialect will speak. It has been a great tool and I've only been using it for a short time.
