Sensory rooms are designed to both calm and stimulate the senses in children with special needs. The main purpose is to provide relaxation and enjoyment by eliminating distraction. During the school day, sometimes academic and behavior requirements can become over whelming for those trying to fit in a high demand environment. When the scholars enter this area this will be an area of tranquility and time of refocus. Scholars will be able to complete independent assignments within a quiet space and or take a time out to regroup so that when they can return to class rejuvenated and refreshed. My scholars need this to be successful socially and academically.
