Our students need math manipulatives to help enrich their understanding of mathematic concepts. Third grade is a challenging year for many students because of the visual nature of the curriculum, more specifically fractions. By providing our students access to a variety of math manipulatives such as problem solving centers, fraction tiles, match-ups games and white boards, students will take away a greater understanding and enjoyment of math. As teachers, we have heard time and time again, "I hate math!" or "It's too hard. I'm not good at math." It is our goal this year to have students engaged and excited about math. These are skills that they will need for the rest of their life and we would love to support them on this journey.
