Welcome to Alaska. We live in a rural area, we have about 3,500 people in our community. We are about 500 miles from a city, however we do not have a road that leads us out of town. With that being said the only way that we get out or get anything is by plane or by a barge (when the ocean isn't frozen). Our classroom is very close and caring for one another. In our classroom we work on safety and respect for one another. With the safety and respect also comes team work. We often refer to our classmates as a team, and I am their #1 fan. In our classroom you will find my students learning with hands on materials. We also do a lot of cooperative learning. We find that this is really important as it helps them work on their social skills which are important to express feelings.
