My classroom is not a traditional math classroom. Historically, students tend to be terrified of math class, because they think math is only memorizing boring and nonsensical rules. In my room, we approach math as the language of logic. We have robust discussions and debates about the rules of math. I want to develop mathematicians who persevere in problem solving, think critically about a given problem, and reasonably critique the reasoning of others. I want to provide alternate seating for my students to make them more comfortable in my classroom, and more likely to tackle tough problems without fear. I also want to provide multiple surfaces where students can work through tough problems together. Finally, I want to provide technology for students who do not have access to supplemental tools that contribute to success.
