My students attend a very rural school in Michigan at the only elementary school in our district. We are a low income community where many families are currently unemployed and 64% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Despite these disadvantages, my students come to school excited to learn. Many of these students have not attended a Young 5's or Preschool program. Kindergarten is their first experience in a school setting and playing with other children their age. We are very excited to be able to offer full day Kindergarten to all of our students. This has helped our students become exposed to more experiences.
