My students are engaged by world happenings, but not all of my students have access to computers, or even televisions at home. I have a large group of avid readers, most of whom are reading on or above grade level. They constantly have questions about the world that we live in. What better way to teach them what is happening in our world than to have a current events resource that can scale the news down to a child's understanding? With subscriptions to Time for Kids, my students will learn about the world and expand their understanding past just the community they live in. It is an important life skill to understand current events. Students will use the articles in Time for Kids to complete current events projects. It will also give them access to non-fiction reading on their levels, that they may not otherwise have access to.
