My students need a listening center! By helping provide this essential technology to our classroom, you will allow groups of students to listen to stories during literacy centers every day. Students will closely follow along with the words on each page as they listen to fluent readers. Research has show that following along to stories read-aloud significantly improves students' reading because it allows the students to listen to a model of fluency, accuracy, expression, and rate. My students love listening to stories and I love reading to them. However, the experience of being able to read independently and to get lost in a great book is truly invaluable! This listening center in our classroom with increase reading levels, allow them to self-select relevant and engaging texts, and set them up for successful reading.
