Time for back-to-school basics! Coming into the new school year, my students will be in need of a number of supplies that will enhance their learning. Of these supplies, the most critical will be notebooks. Although all subjects of learning are significant in their own ways, literacy is the gateway to all ensuing success. With journaling as a tool to reach all subjects, my learners will be able to develop their own writing styles while reflecting back on their learning. I've found interactive note booking to be one of the most deeply-engaging and personalized approaches to guiding learners in taking ownership of their learning in a creative (but organized!) way. Additionally, my class will be in need of other following items: - Protractors and rulers for measuring, conceptualizing fractions, and as tools for art projects - Building (Lego) bricks for demonstrating and manipulating place value, as well as constructing and calculating area and volume of structures - Pattern blocks for learning about area, tessellations, and fractions - Measuring cups for experimenting with volume and measuring
