The captivating articles in Junior Scholastic magazine get students thinking about today’s news and why it matters to them. Each story comes with easy-to-implement teaching resources that build social studies and language arts skills. These magazines will capture my students' attention and provide many of them with their only exposure to news and current events. I have used Scholastic magazines in the past with great success because they are high interest and age-appropriate. Students will use this material both individually and in cooperative groups which will allow them to develop much-needed "soft-skills" like respect for others, sharing, and working within a time frame.
