Having a commercial shredder in the classroom allows my students gain knowledge in a skill area that can be transferred to a paid position upon graduation. Students with special needs benefit from learning employable skills in order to become successful members of today’s society. It also allows for my students to assist the other 95-100 teachers throughout the building by shredding confidential documents. Students will rotate and take turns counting and sorting the papers to be shredded to ensure the shredder will not jam. Students will also learn when to empty the shredder as well as learn proper maintenance of the shredder
