I have the honor of teaching in a classroom designed for students ages 3 to 5 who are on the autism spectrum, or display characteristics that may lead to an autism diagnosis later. We use evidence-based strategies which primarily fall under the umbrella of Applied Behavior Analysis. I typically have 6 students with Individualized Education Plans (IEP's) and 4 students who are typically developing and serve as peer models. In my classroom we are 'child first' focused and do our best to ensure every child has a safe and positive experience while at school.
