Our 3rd grade classroom is made up mostly of students from military families. Many of my students have traveled to multiple countries and have lived abroad. At Coral Academy, Nellis Air Force Base, we have a highly transient population due to the nature of military life. As a result, I strive to provide each student with a stable, supportive and comfortable environment where they are able to grow and flourish with exciting learning experiences while at school. My goal is to help ease social and emotional stressors that may come with being separated from parents during deployment, grieving the loss of a loved one or moving away from friends and family due to relocation. Although there are many challenges, the children have shown me their resilience and ability to quickly adapt to such challenges. I have witnessed their support of one another; especially the bonds they have formed with the Coral Academy staff.
