Having comfortable seating options and some engaging activities will make us better readers and thinkers! Students who are able to get settled and comfortable are able to engage with their reading in a deeper way. I've asked for comfortable floor seats and pillows in order to create a cozy atmosphere in our classroom. I've also asked for a couple reading skills games to engage those students who have not yet developed all the comprehension skills to enable them to enjoy a book to it's fullest. I want students to think about what they read and connect to characters or content. I want them to wonder why or how something works. I want them to predict what will happen next. I want them to be sorry when reading time is over because they want to keep going. I want them to dream about what is possible so they can be our next teachers, leaders, doctors, and parents.
