Some of my students do not have regular meals. Some come hungry to school. Having snacks such as crackers, cookies, and granola bars helps with behaviors and basic needs. My students can have trouble performing if they are hungry. Most of my students come from homes that are struggling to make ends meet. I even have one that lives in a car. Some students get snacks as rewards also. Many rewards are built into my program. Rewards are given based on behavior scores, if we play good behavior game or a special treat for when they make honors. Anything to help a student with social/emotional or emotional disturbance become successful.
