My instructional time is split 80% ESL and 20% Spanish at my elementary school, which I love! My classroom is located in a learning cottage near the back of the school and the past few years since beginning teaching I haven't been able to make it the most effective learning environment that it can be for my students. My white barren walls and lack of décor and organization has created a hostile environment for my students and it's time for a change! I don't always know what part of the world my students come from or what situations they've been in but my priority as a teacher is to provide a comfortable and safe place for my students to learn. With your help, our classroom with be one of diversity and freedom so I want to give the students an opportunity to choose their learning environment. With your donation, students will have flexible seating option such as standing, on the rug with pillows and clipboards, inflatable chairs, and stools. Students will also be able to share materials at each station using the pencil and marker crates. Having a color printer and laminator in my classroom will give the students and me immediate access to hands-on instructional materials such as manipulatives, printing out labels for items in the classroom, creating bilingual information charts based on students home language and specific needs, etc. Along with flexible seating options, when students walk into my room they will no longer see white barren walls. Their culture and diversity will be represented with banners of flags from around the world and inflatable globes hanging from the ceiling. I'm so excited for my classroom to finally represent my population of students and give them freedom to choose their learning space! Thanks for visiting!
