My classroom is set up to encourage co-operative learning and independence. I work at a Title I school and teach a very diverse group of students. My students come in to my classroom knowing that I provide a safe space for them to learn in an environment that feels like family and unity. I use tables instead of desks to allow students to move around easily and encourage working together. I have a variety of other type of seating in the gathering space at the back of the classroom. Students can choose their seating for independent work in an environment that works for them. I want my students to be motivated to learn, in the style of learning that works best for them, in an environment that makes them feel comfortable and safe with no judgement.
