I have been researching The Daily 5 framework for literacy instruction developed by Gail Boushey and Joan Moser. The purpose of the Daily 5 framework is "fostering literacy independence in the elementary grades". Because of my research, I have decided to implement the Daily 5 framework into my literacy instruction this school year. I currently have materials for all components of the Daily 5, EXCEPT a listening center for "Listen to Reading". After researching different ways of doing a listening center, I decided Amazon Fire tablets with headphones were the best way to meet the needs of my students. The tablets are portable and easy for young hands to handle. With a digital library, my students will have a wider variety of literature to choose from compared to a book and CD library. A wider variety converts to a higher chance for all students to find books to fit their interests.
