My students LOVE the playground. But our school does not provide any playground toys or equipment aside from the jungle gym. Regular education students tend to have higher social skills and fully developed imaginations which means it is easier for them to create their own games. My students with special needs find it a challenge to engage with students when they don't understand how to pretend. These balls, frisbees, and jump ropes would be a simple way for my students to easily play and interact with other regular education students on the playground. It is so beneficial for students with special needs to engage with regular education students. This equipment would make our playground time much more than free play. We could practice taking turns, sharing, and following simple directions while improving on our social and emotional skills!
