This project will make a difference in my students' learning by giving them opportunities to experience reading in a way that is both an enjoyable and interactive activity. Hearing good models of reading aloud builds literacy skills, such as building vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension during centers and independent reading time. My students will have the ability to chose from a variety of books and CDs that they are interested in listening to independently. This further builds their confidence in being independent readers. We are looking to upgrade from older cassette players and an ever-shrinking availability of quality and current books on cassette tapes. These new durable and easy to use classroom CD players will open our world to numerous titles of high interest. The fiction and nonfiction single read-along library coupled with additional resources will give us an instant classroom library rich with classic and current titles to help develop their literacy skills and enhance class projects, like an author study. I'm looking forward to my students using this exciting addition to our classroom.
