A set of graphing calculators would allow my diverse set of students to interact with the algebra content on a deeper level. They will use the calculators in class independently and during collaborative work time. The access to this technology not only helps to level the playing field for my students, it creates a space for the students to explore functions in multiple representations. As students work collaboratively to solve problems, the graphing calculator will be a tool that they can utilize to persevere in their problem solving. Historically, my students often became discouraged during exploration based activities, I hope that this hands-on tool will allow them to feel empowered and help to build their mathematical confidence.
