In order for my students to learn and be exposed to new activities we need equipment to demonstrate the sports. We need proper sports equipment in a physical education class. Our current equipment is in poor condition from frequent and daily use. These students deserve to learn from hands on experience. By donating you will be helping facilitate learning new sports and the importance of physical activity, while promoting well-being. Having the equipment will also provide for more intimate group activities. For example, if the class of 33 students had 3 volleyballs, then there would be 11 in each cooperative groups. This situation would be hard to provide teacher feedback to each student. If there were 6 volleyballs, then the class would be in 6 groups of 5-6 students, making it easier to monitor, assess, and provide the necessary individual feedback to each and every student. Same goes for the other equipment that will be needed such as the Frisbee's. Last year was my first year as a teacher and I started to teach a frisbee unit with 2 frisbees. It was a challenge because of group structures and by the end of the unit, I reflected that the students did not get the most out of the frisbee experience. I remember a particualr student asking me if I had anymore frisee's. I replied to her that I did not and remember feeling that there could have been more for the experience to be positive. I'm planning to manage and facilitate the equipment so all the sports equipment will be accounted for and stay in good condition. All in all, I want the Physical Education class to be fun, interactive, and enjoyable!
